Using Cardio to Improve Health

Improving your health through cardio exercise is important, as it means you can look forward to a long and happy life!  Your heart is key when it comes to cardio – by exercising hard, you can increase the amount of blood pumped in each heart beat.  This is good for the body as it means more oxygen can be pumped around the body in one movement.

Cardio such as running, walking, cycling or cross training are a great way to increase cardio fitness, allowing your heart and lungs to strengthen.  Having stronger lungs is healthy as it means you can use more oxygen more efficiently.

It is recommended to exercise for at least 30 minutes each day as this is meant to be the best time to get the benefits of exercise through cardio fitness. If you are looking to lose weight, cardio is a great way to do this as it burns lots of extra calories.
